I opened my daycare in Starbuck, MN in May 1999. I relocated my daycare to Alexandria in June 2000. My child care program is a multi-age with a C-3 licence. I have a semi-structured family child care environment that is smoke free and pet free. My philosophy is children learn through play. I offer nutritious meals and a preschool curriculum. I am trained in CPR, First Aid, SIDS, Shaken Baby, car seats and many other contiuing education hours in child wellness. I offer a monthly newsletter and Scholastic book club orders. I follow a Boys Town approach for discipline using positive teaching rather than punishment of children. I encourage children by recognizing their good behavior and teaching before problems occur.
I have three children. Natalie and Colin attend St Mary's Catholic School and Emily gets to stay at home with mom. My wonderful husband Joel, designed this website and LAPCCA really thanks him.
I am a member of LAPCCA, MLFCCA. I have recieved a fellowship from Child Care Works where I am learning to promote child advocay in the community, and I am currently serving on the LAPCCA Board in a legistlative-technology position. I am also active with the Douglas County Building Connections Initiative, and planning for the Week of the Young Child.
I enjoy cooking, entertaining, reading, and camping with family and friends. I also enjoy planning events and learning new things. |

I have been doing licensed childcare since 1991 and have a C-3 license. I am trained in CPR/First Aid, Sids, Shaken Baby and numerous other child related topics. I have also completed the Right From the Start program. I participate in the Providers Choice food program and I am also a member of the Lakes Area Professional Child Care Association.
I have a smoke free semi-structured daycare where we work on letters, numbers, shapes and color recognition during play and learning time. I teach sign language to infants and toddlers to help them learn early communication skills. I also strive to teach the children about some other very important things in life such as compassion, patience, sharing, self help skills and getting along with others as well as having fun in the process.
My husband and I own a hobby farm on the edge of Osakis and the children have lots of room to play outside as well as in our unique playroom which has a loft for 3 year olds and up. |

License
I am licensed by the state of MN and Douglas County to provide care for 10-14 children in my home (C3). I have been licensed in Douglas County since 1996. I operate during the school year providing care for 8-10 children primarily under school age. During the summer months and when school is not is session I care for a mixed-age group of 10-12 children.
Days and Hours of Operation
School year: Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30 (unless otherwise prearranged)
Summer: Monday-Thursday 7:30-4:30
Background and Education
I have been involved in Early Child Care and Education since 1987 in a variety of settings; private home care, licensed child care center, head start and family child care since 1992. I am required by law to complete a minimum of eight hours of training per year as well as maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
I believe strongly in the importance of continued education and self improvement and typically go well beyond the minimum requirements.
I attained a credential for Child Development Associate (CDA) in 2000. This is an assessment by the National Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition. It demonstrates competence to work with young children and their families. I take continuing education to maintain this credential. I have been trained and certified to train for the ITTI program, providing high quality training for infant and toddler caregivers.
I am a member of the local childcare association (LAPCCA) as well as the state (MLFCCA) and National Association (NAFCC). I am currently serving as the
president of LAPCCA.
My Program
My child care program is geared toward providing a place where children feel “at home”. The environment is set up for learning, exploring, and social-play. I believe young children need a place that is safe, stimulating, and warm, where they can feel secure to learn about our world. My goal is to make them feel welcome and accepted as well as to support their great interest in learning. Some small group activities are planned to allow children the opportunity to practice listening, taking turns, following directions and sharing. Basic concepts such as letter, number, shapes and color recognition are introduced regularly in our play and learning. |

I have been licensed since 2004. My hours are 6:00a.m.-5:30p.m. I use a curriculum but am lightly structured. I have a fenced in play area and am also close to our neighborhood park. The bus stop is right at my house for school aged, which makes it easy for them to get on and off from the bus. I have two little boys myself. I truly enjoy what I do.

I became a licensed childcare provider in 2007 (receiving a class C-3
license). Prior to beginning my childcare program I worked as a nanny for
over three years. I also have some teaching experience as I am licensed to
teach in grades K-6 as well as in 5th-8th grade math classes.
My home is a safe and fun place for children to play, learn, and grow. My
childcare program is semi-structured providing plenty of time for free play
as well as structured group activities. My daily childcare routine includes
project time, outdoor play, storytime, and nap/quiet time in addition to
scheduled meals and snacks. I usually have a weekly theme for the children.
Some of our past themes have included numbers, baseball week, the zoo, and
fall fun. Each week we have projects and books related to the theme.
Sometimes even our songs, games, and snacks connect to the theme. Parents
receive weekly newsletters on what's been happening at daycare. |

I have a Early Childhood Degree and taught Preschool in the Twin Cities for years and was also the Lead Teacher for the Schoolage Program at a local childcare facility. My husband and I have five children ages eleven and younger. I've been licensed since September 2007. My Childcare facility is seperate from our home, with its own entrance. I use Funshine Express Curriculum on a daily basis for children over two years. My facility is very cute and unique with a mural painted on the walls throughout with a junge theme, the room is set up as it would be in a preschool with all of the learning areas marked for play. We go outside on a regular basis (weather permitting). Mats or cribs are provided for your child at nap time.
